{Font Friday}

Arrrrr you ready for this week’s Font Friday post?!
It is called 1695 Captain Flint… can ya guess what this font is styled like?!

A European, hand written inspired type face that contains various alternates to get a true hand written style that resembles the writing a buccaneer might have!

As my family and friends will tell you, I’m a HUGE fan of pirates. There is so much history behind them and they cross so many cultures.

That also means I love the Pirates of the Caribbean movies {mmm Johnny Depp!}. That is a man who looks good in eye liner!

Here is the description found on myfonts.com

This rough font, was created inspired from a lot of various european documents dated from the end of 1600’s. We were in search of a hand to accompany with “The Treasure Island” novel by R.L. Stevenson, and this seems to be the good one.

It is a “Pro” font containing Western (including Celtic) and Northern European, Icelandic, Baltic, Eastern, Central European and Turquish diacritics. We have also included a few old English specific abbreviations. The numerous alternates (four sorts of standard lowercases and two sets of capitals) and numerous ligatures allow to made the font looking like a real various hand. Using an OTF software, the features allow to vary each character without anything to do but to select contextual alternates and standard ligatures and/or stylistic alternates options.

To get more info about Captain Flint, or to buy it head on over here. He is available for as little as $21 with various purchasing options to fit your needs.

Hello Font friendlies!

This week’s pick for Font Friday is in my favorite style – Script!

Please take a gander at Aphrodite Slim!

You all know how I love a good script font! And like many of my other favorites, Aphrodite comes with lots of extras!!

Check out these beautiful wedding invitations that use Aphrodite!

Here is an excerpt of the {LONG}description of the font from myfonts.com

More delicate and meticulous, Aphrodite Slim Pro is once more a new typography with deep calligraphic ideals: We immersed ourselves into the world of each calligraphy ductus and each calligraphy masters by studying from decoration to lettering books.

This was the key for the logic of Aphrodite Slim’s behavior.

The new concept of Aphrodite Slim Pro was to join diverse styles of calligraphy in one in order to achieve an autonomous expressiveness, in fact, this is what calligraphy aims to, and we agreed to bring those ideals to the world of typography: It is justifiable to be inspired in hundred-year-old calligraphies, but it is even better if the results you obtain have a plus. A personal plus. During the creation process we were wondering whether it was possible to mix certain strokes of such rigid styles as uncial, (Li·n’s favourite style), with strokes of the copperplate, (Sav’s favourite style), and also to take and mix cualities of cancelleresca cursiva, formata and moderna; finally giving our creation a roman-transition italic look.

Aphrodite also is available in various languages as well! And she has a big sister, Aphrodite Pro.

She is slightly bolder than her slim sister but man can you imagine the designs you could create with the combination of the two!

Font Friday is very quickly becoming a favorite thing for me to write.

I hope you guys have been enjoying it too!

This week’s pick is a cute one and his name is Liam!

See, cute!

Liam is such a fun little font.

That image above is a perfect example! I can imagine it being used in all kinds of fun party invitations for summer or baby showers!

And check this out….

Liam draws pictures!  I spy a wee cupcake on the left up there! I like the little mittens on the right here too for winter time!

Here is what the creator, Laura Worthington, has to say about the font:

Liam is a playful, hand-lettered serif typeface that bounces off the page with its exuberance and spontaneity. Liam features 130 alternate letters and takes advantage of contextual alternates that gives this font its natural look and feel. 52 ornaments have been illustrated to complement and complete this design.

Liam is named after and dedicated to my wonderful nephew.

So what do you think of Liam? He is reasonably priced at $29.  To read more about this cutie or to buy it click here!

Hello Friday! Sorry I was MIA for last week’s Font Friday… I was dealing with self inflicted food poisoning and just wasn’t functioning well.

I am glad to say I am feeling good and have a fun little font to share with you today.

Lignette by Marcus Sterz of Facetype Type

I’m not sure what caught my eye about this one but I loved how relaxed and casual it is even though it is a script.

Here is what the description on Veer.com says about Lignette:

You are looking for a contemporary upright script family? Lignette Script is an elegant monoline font consisting of 535 glyps, with a wide range of languages covered (including greek) and 71 beautiful ligatures included – please make sure to use applications that support OpenType features. Moreover Marcus Sterz created Lignette Deco to complete the graceful look with frames and ornaments.

Look at the selection of frames and ornaments that are also available!

To view the details about Lignette, or to buy it, {$40 for the set!! }head over here.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Lignette? Will she be making an appearance in your font collection soon?!
